Jameson is a drummer, composer, and educator in Chicago, Illinois. He has toured the country, performing at The Green Mill in Chicago, Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York, Dazzle Jazz in Denver, The Velvet Note in Atlanta, The Chatterbox in Indianapolis, Merriman’s Playhouse in South Bend, and the Chicago Jazz Festival.

Jameson has released two albums as Co-Leader: Crossroads Quintet’s Intertwined on Midwest Crush Music and The Scriver Baker Sjobeck Trio’s Something About Christmas.

Jameson leads numerous groups in Chicago, including his main project Reckoner which combines Indie Rock sensibilities from his home town Seattle with Modern Jazz, and Brazilian rhythms. In addition to his small group projects, Jameson leads his own large ensemble: The Good Fight Big Band.

In 2020, Jameson was selected for the BMI Foundation’s David N. Baker Jazz Composition Scholarship and awarded second place for the American Society of Music Arrangers and Composers Van Alexander Scholarship.

In 2019 Jameson was recognized at the Jazz Education Network Young Composers Showcase. His composition “The Good Fight” was performed by the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors at the 2019 JEN Conference in Reno, Nevada.

Jameson was also selected for the Ithaca College Jazz Composition contest. His trombone feature “Slippin’ Slide” was performed by Vincent Gardner and the Ithaca College Jazz Ensemble at their Jazz festival in May 2019.

Jameson earned a Master’s degree in Jazz studies at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where he studied drum set with Steve Houghton.

Prior to his time at IU, Jameson earned his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado. As a part of the Northern Colorado Voices, he earned a Downbeat Student Music Award for best graduate vocal jazz ensemble. During his time in Colorado, he co-founded the Scriver Baker Sjobeck Trio and co-produced their debut record, followed by a national tour.

Jameson is an avid and intuitive educator. His favorite setting is teaching private drum set lessons, which he has done for over ten years.  

Besides playing music, Jameson loves to snowboard, hike, study philosophy and psychology, and play board games with his family in Washington state.
